Course Description: This session will review the evidence-based occupational therapy and interprofessional literature on fall prevention for community dwelling older adults. Presenters will provide recommendations for practice based on their review of the evidence and literature related to risk factors, older adults’ perspectives and experiences, assessments and interventions.

 

Speaker Bios: Presenters are current students in the first year of the MAOT curriculum at St. Catherine University. Their course has been guided by Dr. Julie Bass this semester. 

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the Evidence-Based Practice process
2. Summarize current research and levels of evidence for fall prevention for community dwelling older adults related to risk factors, older adults’ perspectives and experiences, assessments and interventions.
3. Identify evidence-based recommendations to guide practice related to fall prevention.
4. Discuss how governmental and professional resources related to fall prevention.  

Target Audience: OTR, OTA, OTS, all.

**Mendal Hall is the large building at the intersection of Randolph and Prior avenues near Gate 3 (Park on the south side of Randolph avenue).
