Course Description: 

Learn family centered care focused practices to facilitate successful long term outcomes in infants with cleft lip and palate. Learn discharge coarse and resources for families.

Speaker Bio: 

Kim Myhre  OTR/L ,CLC, CNT, NTMTC, is a certified neonatal therapist at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of MN.  She also holds certifications in neonatal massage, and lactation. She has over 30 years of practice experience in pediatrics with 25 in a level 4 NICU and NICU follow up clinic. Her specialties include evaluating and treating infants with craniofacial disorders and congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

Noelle Morell  MA, SLP, CCC is the Clinic Coordinator and Speech Language Pathologist for Children’s of MN  Cranial Facial Program. Noelle provides care for patients pre-natally through adulthood. She has over 10 years of experience. Her specialties include: cleft and craniofacial disorders

 

Objectives:

1)  Identify concerns that impact successful feeding for infants with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies

2)  Describe feeding systems used for infants with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies

3)  Discuss neonatal discharge course and cleft/craniofacial team recommendations

4) List resources available for further information for clinicians and families

Distance learning option:  MOTA will provide distance learning for this event.  You will be asked during registration if you would like to attend the event remotely. Registrants attending distance will receive Zoom link prior to the course from the MOTA email.  Please note:  Distance learning is NOT AOTA APP eligible and a post-test (80% accuracy) is required  prior to receiving course certificate with contact hours.
